Director of Public Policy | Lyft
Prashanthi Raman is a Director of Public Policy in the Public Policy group at Lyft, the ridesharing company. She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. Thereafter, Prashanthi pursued a joint Juris Doctorate and Masters of Public Health degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and University of Illinois at Chicago. Prashanthi has always had a passion for government relations and the intersection of policy. After practicing healthcare law for 6 years, she was appointed by Illinois Governor Quinn to manage healthcare and human services legislation and legislative affairs for the entire state of Illinois and oversee 8 state agencies. Her interests led her to her present position at Lyft, one of the most reputable start-ups nationally. Prashanthi oversees and manages a wide range of public policy issues in various markets across North America, negotiating with elected officials, forging relationships with third party stakeholders and speaking on behalf of the company.
In her free time, Prashanthi is actively engaged in the Asian American community, not-for-profit and foundation executive boards and community service. She spent a great deal of time in New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina doing legal aid and was engaged in many other revitalization efforts. Prashanthi also serves on the Council of Logistics and Transportation for the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. As she is passionate about education and women empowerment, Prashanthi serves as a Board Member and a mentor with the PowHerful Foundation, a foundation focused on sending young women scholars to and through college with wrap-around services. Prashanthi resides in Chicago with her husband and daughter.
